Description

THIS TOUR HAS BEEN CANCELLED AS TOO FEW PEOPLE REGISTERED BY THE DEADLINE!

A special visit to CERN has been organised for iPRES 2016 attendees. The visit is limited to 24 people and subject to registration ("first come - first served").

A minimum of 12 people is required for the tour to go ahead!

You will need to make your own way to and from CERN and conform to the safety regulations that apply to CERN visits. For more information, follow the link here.

From Bern, the recommended way to get to CERN is:

  1. Take a train from Bern to Geneva main station ("Cointrin")
  2. Take tram number 18 direction CERN to the final stop
  3. You will have arrived just opposite the CERN reception (building 33 - on the opposite side of the road to "the Globe").

Trains from Bern to Geneva take just under two hours. There are two direct trains per hour and the latest direct train that will allow you to arrive on time leaves Bern at 10:34. The tram ride from the station to CERN takes about 20 minutes.

Warning - CERN does not have the facilities to store luggage. If you are travelling with luggage you will need to leave it either at the station or at the airport (and allow sufficient time to do so).
