The report by the US ATLAS Tier 3 Task Force released April 09 concluded that there is a need for increased Atlas computing capabilities at US Insitutes (Tier3's).
T3 Techincal Support Group [D. Benjamin(chair), S. Chekanov, R. Yoshida and J. Cochran] was formed to help organize the setting up of Tier3's at universities. To this end, the Support Group is calling an organization meeting on 18-19 May at Argonne (ANL ASC).
Draft HOW-TO documentaion(web pages) based on the recommendations of the task force report has been prepared.
The intended audience of this workshop are University persons who intend either to participate in building a Tier3 at his/her university, or be closely associated with such an effort.
The meeting will focus primarily on smaller T3 installations (Tier 3g and Tier 3w)[as defined in the recent US Atlas Tier 3 task force report]. There will be some information on the Tier3af (Analysis Facilities), but will not cover the Tier3gs (Tier2-like T3s).
The meeting will cover:
* The current template Tier-3g (and w) design
* Experience from existing Tier3's
* Demonstrations and hands-on work period
* Discussion of issues outstanding
The aim of the meeting is that the participant leaves with (at least) a clear idea of the next steps in building a Tier3 at his/her institute.
This meeting will be carried on EVO.
