Comments:
-
The instrumentation must be compatible with the 5 ns bunch spacing option.
-
Minimum intensity numbers for ions are not yet defined. But we assume we can use the same ratio p/h than the one in use for LHC
-
The term ‘resolution’ in Laurette’s table is misleading. It should be replaced by ‘precision’, which should also clearly defined next to the table to avoid confusion. In particular we should agree and specify if this precision for BPM is defined with respect to magnetic centre or beam screen. A meeting with additional people from the vacuum group will be organized in order to clarify the centering of the beam with respect to the beam screen in the vertical plane.
-
For BPMs, the bulk of the BPMs will be based on turn by turn needs requested for Optics measurements. These measurements must be made at top energy with a single low intensity bunch. Hence the BPM system will be designed with 5e8 charges as minimum bunch intensity.
-
For BLM, clear specs may take time to come, so we agree for the moment to ‘scale’ FCC BLM specs with respect to LHC ones.
-
For transverse profiles, we (BI experts on the field) have to get in touch with Daniel to clarify and agree on the needs
Next Steps:
Based on these info, BE/BI will organize the necessary internal discussions on the different observables and come back (in ~3 months) with our technical solutions to cover these rough specifications and an identification of the difficulties requiring some extra R&D. Our next meeting will be then organized to present the results.
BE/BI will organise in the next couple of weeks meetings to start discussions on BPM and transverse profile subjects
