Description
The existence of gauge theories with an IR fixed point can have important phenomenological consequences. Due to recent algorithmic progresses, lattice simulations can now provide first-principle results to identify (near-)conformal behaviour at large distances. We discuss the techniques employed in lattice investigations of gauge theories that can potentially develop an IR fixed point, emphasizing the novel opportunities and their limitations. We summarize recent results obtained by various groups, and discuss new lattice data. Finally we analyze the phenomenological implications of the lattice results.
