Ewan Kirk is the co-founder and CIO of Cantab Capital Partners, a quantitative hedge fund driven by a team of scientists. His daily focus is research and development, risk management and managing the Cantab quantitative team. Prior to founding Cantab, Ewan ran the Goldman Sachs Strategies Group in Europe, where he was responsible for all of Goldman Sachs' quantitative technology. Ewan holds a PhD in General Relativity from Southampton and completed Part III of the Mathematical Tripos at Cambridge.
Ewan will come to CERN to share with us his experience in the hedge fund industry. He will will give an overview of the work carried out at a hedge fund. He will cover the types of strategies and instruments traded, the quantitative skills and methods employed, and what makes a successful trading strategy. Ewan will also share his journey into finance, and finally, there will be the opportunity for a Q&A session at the end.
