Notes from the Technical meeting
Centos 7 migration
Alessandra has been working on Centos 7. Edinburgh have cobbled together versions and Alessandra has documented this. Lancaster is going to be pushed as they have a shared cluster and there are some EMI centos 7 RPMs available and Lancaster will test this. Lancaster will continue to report on this.
RAL are using SL 7 not Centos 7.
It was generally agreed that waiting for the RPMs rather than cobbling together is the right approach.
RPM production is going slowly and so we discussed what we could do to help. It was agreed that we should try to help testing. The worker nodes are the main issue. Some sites are working with A Manzi who is coordinating this within EMI. Raul will contact him to see what we can do to help and then forward to the list
VAC does not yet run Centos 7. Andrew is aware that and will fix it before the midpoint of the year.
T2 Compute Evolution
Birmingham now have the Atlas jobs running on their VAC ste up.
Daniele Spiga has been working on getting this working for CMS.
Andrew L. has been running Atlas and LHCb jobs in containers at RAL as a precursor to running n Azure. They have also been testing Azure and have copied in ATlas data to block storage and will run jobs next week.
There is an Atlas meeting on containers on Wednesday and it would benefit everybody to join (even CMS types).
