Precision BPM tests at CESR-TA 1h
Stablilization to sub-nm level is one of the feasibility items of the CLIC project. The present approach is active stabilization of accelerator components using electro-mechanical sensors and piezo actuators in a feedback loop. In order to validate this approach an experiment has been performed at CESR-TA with the aim of demonstrating down to what limit a particle beam can be used as sensor for the stability of magnetic elements. The presentation covers the motivation for the effort, the experimental set-up at CESR-TA, the results and a proposal what could be done before the write-up of the CDR end 2010.
