Description
Bi-Weekly LHCbDirac DevOps meeting

Present: Chris,Vladimir, Federico, Joel, Philippe, Zoltan
Remote: Milosz

Minutes/matters from last meeting

Update of the MySQL db: dbod-lbcertif is now running with the latest version of MySQL.

Vobox root login: still not clear why Federico can login as root. To be added to the list: Zoltan, Philippe, Federico.

LHCbDIRAC installation: Status of servers, DBs, build machines…

Backup of the CS configurations (https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-742)

This work has not been started, and has been assigned the priority #1 of Joel

Clean old kernels from vobox automatically (https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-721)

No work has been done, but is low priority. We do not see so many alarms anymore

Deploy dirac.cfg and bashrc with puppet (https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-696)

This is priority #2 of Joel, and hope it can be done this week. This, as a reminder, prevents from updating the dbod passwords.

Cleaning the CS (https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-644)

Ongoing task. Joel cleaned the host section. Vladimir to go through the Resources.

Connect GitLab/LHCbDIRAC to Jenkins (https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-640)

This is finally working but we realized that there are caveats. It was decided to change the approach: a MR will trigger unit test and pylint on gitlab-ci. A push will create a jenkins job with heavier tests. The tasks are already created:

https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-750

https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-751

Review the Twiki documentation (https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-629)

On going process. There is clearly the need to define a structure for the documentation we have in LHCbDIRAC (gitlab)/DIRAC (github)

Runsv installed on the system (https://github.com/DIRACGrid/DIRAC/issues/3393)

No progress done on that. Priority #3 of Joel.

Mesos (https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-609)

The cluster is up and running fine, and satisfying monitoring has been added. It is to be noted a incident linked to a change in puppet from another team. next step is to scale and teach people

DIRAC/LHCbDIRAC Releases planning and installation

LHCbGRID: LHCbGRID v11r14 is hotfixed in all possible way. Currently, only the slc6-gcc49 platform can work. Separate meeting to address that ( https://indico.cern.ch/event/657662/ )

LHCbDIRAC v9r0:

  • Based on DIRAC v6r19
  • First pre-release today
  • After first certification round, we shall consider a v8r9 with the same bundle as v8r8, but with the urgent fixes in (like Philippe's)

Conferences planning and reports

DBOD workshop in september: seems very interesting

pre-GDB of July: about singularity. Everyone agrees it is nice, but now, who works on it ?

GDB and pre-GDB in september about DMS

AOB

HTCondor: still issues with proxy lifetime. Ben Johns involved.

Too hot, no atomic number and chocolate
