Developer's meeting

→ Europe/Zurich

Enrico: EHN1

  • goal: get data written to disk using event request from timing
  • last week: little opportunity to test (given RCE activity)
  • BoardReader exercised
  • possibility to have stand-alone facility (no need for Run Control)
  • this week: used WIB but again using local timing generation; everything fine
    • but not triggered yet; timing h/w problems affecting the WIB (problem with one control character that is not received correctly)
  • config last week already used "pull" mode (request coming from event builder)
  • hope to have actual data with external timing on disk by the end of this week

Milo: data re-ordering

  • Dan: format (p4) has changed slightly -- but only control characters and CRC32. Milo: that is correct, but I am in fact already using the new format
  • for now: retaining all header information (but re-ordered)
  • compression: from ~ 2 ("bare" gzip) to 2.6 (data re-ordering) to 3.3 (take ADC values' differences w.r.t. previous value)
  • discussion:
    • will be interesting to see what can still be gained
    • but testing the timing (i.e., throughput) should have higher priority for now

Next meeting: tentatively planned for November 1
