The Gozo College Middle School is the only state school on the island of Gozo that caters for students who are 11 to 13 years old. It is a co-ed school, situated in Victoria, Gozo. Presently, 375 students attend this school. Most of the students are from Gozo, but the number of foreign students is increasing every year, with students coming from EU and non-EU countries. Our students follow a national curriculum including Maths, English, Maltese, Integrated Science, ICT, Art, Music, Home Economics, Design & Technology, Physical Education, Religious Knowledge, Social Studies, Geography and a foreign language from Spanish, French, German, Italian and Arabic. The main subjects; Maths, English and Maltese, are learned at various levels, according to the abilities of the students. Foreign students learn Maltese as a Foreign Language.
Our curriculum is complimented with various projects which involve most of the students. In fact, our school won the Green Flag, together with the LEAF award. Presently, EkoSkola is working on a Carob project for the ‘We Eat Responsibly’ campaign. Our eTwinning projects, the most recent one ‘Colouring our Subjects’, has received the European Quality Label. Kreattiv Funding Programme of Arts Council Malta, has for three consecutive years awarded funds to our school for projects submitted, choosing our last project ‘Birds on a Wire’ as their flagship project. Our current project will help the students learn about the golden ratio and patterns in nature. Our students also stage their Annual School Performance, presently also working on ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The students have also formed a school orchestra with our adjoining school.
