LHCP 2018 Program Committee meeting (III)

At this meeting, we plan to discuss the following items:

- Status of plenary session theory talk invitations

- Experimental plenary talk topics 

Notes from 3rd LHCP2018 PC meeting: 1 Dec 2017

 

Present: Nisati, Mele, Patrigiani, Iancu, Dissertori, Tovey, Tackmann, Nania, Vagnoni

 

Introduction:

Experimental plenary talks:

- Invitations to identify speakers will be sent to experiment speakers committees in mid-January. At that point we will need a list of titles and short abstracts for each session, together with an assigned experiment - either ALICE, LHCb or ATLAS/CMS (in the last case the A+C Physics Coordinators will agree the splitting).

- A first proposal for the number of exp. talks per session (theory talks in parentheses):
. Higgs (2) - 3
. QCD (3: of 17+3 min each) - 2 of 25+5 min each
. EWK (1) - 4
. HI (2) - 3
. SUSY (0) - 5
. EXO (2) - 3
. HF (1) - 4
. Top (1) - 4
. Upgr/Fut (1) - 4

- We propose that one colleague from the PC makes a proposal for the list of (1) titles, (2) abstracts and (3) experiments for each session, for discussion at the next PC meeting (to be scheduled in week of 15 January - Guenther will set up a doodle poll).

- The titles/abstracts shoukd use as input the preliminary suggestions at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1i3tSZQcrlivIhorQhWxToJEE-ELO2hPThH9CGQzNXWU/edit

- We discussed possible responsibles in the meeting and produced the following proposal:

. Higgs - Kerstin Tackmann
. QCD - Claudia Patrignani
. EWK - suggested Marie-Helen Schune (please let us know if this is OK!)
. HI - Rosario Nania
. SUSY - Dan Tovey
. EXO - suggested Shahram Rahatlou (please let us know if this is OK!)
. HF - Vincenzo Vagnoni
. Top - Guenther Dissertori

. Upgr/Fut - suggested Ralf Averbeck (please let us know if this is OK!)

- In each case please take the existing list at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1i3tSZQcrlivIhorQhWxToJEE-ELO2hPThH9CGQzNXWU/edit and add the condensed titles and abstracts under the relevant heading in a different colour. Please do not remove the existing proposals.

- In each case please do a final check with the members of the other relevant experiments on the PC that the proposals are reasonable before the meeting in w/c 15 January.

- Further suggestions on the above googledocs are welcome even now.

- Once the list has been agreed in the meeting in w/c 15 January, we should send to the relevant parallel session conveners for information.

 

Theory plenary talks:

- Invitations now on the critical path as we have a potential competition with Blois 2018 for speakers!
