Developer's meeting

→ Europe/Zurich

present: Milo, Enrico, Roland, Frank

EHN1:

  • 100 Gbps Mellanox card (with both links) now working in FELIX host, following BIOS and other changes to the host's power management
    • Joern Schumacher (ATLAS FELIX) is also testing the ConnectX-5 card, even if with different motherboards (SuperMicro) than the Dell one used in srv19; it will be useful to keep in touch about optimisation
    • longish discussion about power management: Enrico will continuing testing, still with internal data generation but sending out data on both links simultaneously, to stress the system
      • the FELIX card is expected to consume some 70W; the ConnectX-5 card up to 125W; so a priori this is not expected to be a problem for the present 750W power supply (but a more powerful PS can be bought, if needed)
  • waiting for Dan to get around to fixing WIB-FELIX firmware issues
    • hopefully this can be soon, given that the WIB-RCE firmware issues have apparently been sorted out, and most issues are expected to be in common

CHEP abstract:

  • not submitted yet, waiting for information on any DUNE guidance on such ProtoDUNE conference contributions (but will need to submit by next Monday)
  • also still need to converge on author list (preference for now is to stick with CERN/Nikhef/PNNL)

Next meeting:

  • tentatively planned for January 24
  • we agreed to move the nominal starting time for future meetings back from 18:00 to 17:00 (we can still decide to start at 18:00 whenever the earlier time is problematic)
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
    • 18:00 → 18:20
      EHN1 progress 20m
Speakers: Enrico Gamberini (CERN), Roland Sipos (Institut of theoretical physics Eotvos Lorand University (HU))
