Description
POPS is the new power system for the PS main magnets. It will replace the present rotating machine and its associated auxiliaries.
A contract with CONVERTEAM (FR) was placed in December 2007 and it was planned to start its commissioning in December 2009.
Unfortunately, the shutdown 2009-2010 had to be suppressed to serve LHC.
The reception tests with Converteam will be done in January 2010 on a dummy load, representing 1/10 of the nominal load but at full current (6kA).
The final tests on the PS magnets will be done during the next shut down 2010-2011. POPS shall be operational in April 2011.
