Brief Notes on todays Meeting, Tuesday October 13 2009
======================================================
Present: Mar, Ilias, Richard, Christoph
* Future Meetings: we agreed to have regular meetings each TUESDAY at 9:00 in 155-R-047 (except for October, here the room is occupied but we can hold the meeting near by, in 20/1-004).
The agendas, material of the meeting can be found on Indico,
http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=71016
* following the presentation on the GIF++ at the SPSC:
-> the committee is especially interested on the question if the GIF++ at the H4 beam line will limit the use of the electron beam which is not available at other beam lines in the North Area. Members of the SPSC will follow up this question, however the arguments why H4 was selected still hold (costs, space...) and the requested beam time per year as main user of H4 by the GIF++ anyhow is not in conflict with the time the users in the last couple of years requested for electrons.
The committee members will contact Mar and Ilias.
A statement by the committee we can expect at its next session, November, Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17.
* Richard reported on his contact with CEGELEC whom he asked for a quote concerning a source, irridiator and absorber (filter) system. The resume of the meeting with Richard and the CEGELEC responsible for selling radioactive sources is given on the Indico agenda page of this meeting, see "summary meeting RF-CEGELC about source".
Concerning the quotes we agreed on the following:
-> the request for a quote from the companies should make clear that we are looking for a quote with three sub-units,
= the source
= the irradiator
= attenuators (filters)
Mar and Richard will write the text for the call for quotes and make sure that the companies will get the point of the three sub-units.
-> up to now we have basically two companies which to ask for a quote, Christoph will investigate further possible companies whom we can ask for
an offer (contact Doris Forkel).
* we see an urgent need to proceed with the purchase of the source for various reasons!
* Ilias promised to have a time schedule on the GIF++ construction available and discussed within his department by mid November.
