Notes from Technical meeting

Migration to Centos 7

Led by Steve Jones:

Discussion as to the state of the move to centos 7. Different sites are at different stages with some (e.g. Imperial) almost completely moved and others (e.g. Glasgow, Sheffield) just started and everything else in between.

Then a discussion as to which installation systems and which versions (puppet 2/3/4 and/or ansible). The mixture is such that it makes it difficult to have a set of reusable puppet files. Steve pointed out a document outlining a base installation might be useful. It is a bit late for this upgrade but establishing  the process may well be more efficient for the next time. Chris Brew commented that the documentation (for the last ~15 years has simply been the documentation code). Several people pointed out that the Argus documentation was an exemplar.

Steve will set up structured twiki pages.
