Description

Following the concept of the TTC high Q meetings, the TTC thin film working group is a forum to present and discuss new results, ideas, technical progress and challenges related to SRF thin films and new materials.

The content of this meetings is considered unpublished and preliminary and is not intended for external reference or distrubution.

    • 16:00 → 16:20
Magnetic screening of SRF multilayer structures 20m

    • 16:25 → 16:45
Q-slope analysis of the seamless Nb/Cu cavity for the HIE-ISOLDE project 20m

Q-slope data of reduced and enhanced magnetic fields were analyzed in detail, using the newly developed seamless cavity for the HIE-ISOLDE project.
The study revealed that a linear Q-slope in the residual resistance is caused by trapped flux, and temperature dependent Q-slope seems more intrinsic feature of the cavity.
This temperature dependent term could not be explained by thermal models.
A new model of a distribution of the super-heating field is proposed and shows qualitative agreement with the data.
It is emphasized that a dedicated measurement of such field distribution in a sample is of great importance.

Speaker: Akira Miyazaki (University of Manchester (GB))
