Description

This talk is in three parts: a summary of current scientific requirements and conceptual design for DUNE as discussed in the DUNE near detector working group, strategies employed by currently running experiments such as MINOS, T2K, and NOVA, and various technical issues faced by all. Based on this discussion, an approach is proposed for a long term program which will evolve. The facilities for the near measurements will need to be flexible to allow change.
