Join us for our 3rd WIT Diversity talk with Pierre Gildemyn, CERN's Ombudsperson. The interview will be conducted by Anna Cook Deputy Group Leader fo the Talent Acquisition Group in the HR department.

The WIT Diversity Talks are a complement to the WIT Talks, as the former somehow turn the tables with regards to the latter: in the WIT Talks, women are interviewed around their careers, acting as role models in that sense. With the WIT Diversity Talks, the focus would be to talk about personal experiences on diversity and provide male role models to show that this is also a question for men. Normally interviews like this are the other way around, men about career and women about diversity!

The purpose is to raise awareness and provide role models on how one as a (male) ally can participate in progressing the issue.

As per usual, the talk will be followed by networking lunch in R2.

Short biographies

Pierre Gildemyn

Pierre Gildemyn obtained a Law degree and completed an MBA at the University of Gent (Belgium).

He followed one year of European law in Nancy (France) and started his career in 1980, joining after three years the Human Resources Management. He worked in different types of companies: agriculture machines, consumer goods, medical imagery, pharmaceuticals and luxury goods, first in Belgium, then, since 1998, in Switzerland. He joined CERN in 2001 in Compensation & Benefits, was

technical coordinator for the 2010 five-yearly review, moved to Learning & development, then to Recruitment, before becoming Ombuds in October 2017.

He has three grown-up daughters, four grand-daughters and lives close to Nyon (CH). In his leisure time he likes gardening, DIY and photography.

Anna Cook

Anna studied Biological Sciences and Immunology and her career has been an eclectic and interesting journey, spanning laboratory sales, the semiconductor industry, IT, resource planning and since 2010, HR.

Anna joined CERN in 2004, beginning her career in the IT Department on the Enabling Grids for E-SciencE project for 6 years, also holding the role of Deputy Departmental Planning Officer for IT from 2008-2010. In 2010 she joined HR, first heading up the newly created Staff Recruitment Unit for 6 years. Since 2016, Anna is deputy head of Talent Acquisition (HR-TA), covering all CERN professional, graduate and student recruitment programmes, as well as the records and Cards team. Anna is also HR communication liaison, notably coordinating TA communication and outreach initiatives.
