In a student-friendly environment, the participants will construct their own particle detector: a cloud chamber! The techniques and materials used to build the detector are amazingly simple and the participants will be flabbergasted by the results they obtain in this relatively short time. A wonderful experience which is always very much appreciated by the students!

11. Masterclass Data Analysis (groups A1 and A2)

During the Masterclass Data Analysis, the students will work with software that is specifically developed for the analysis of data gathered by the LHC experiments. They have the possibility to filter, cut and conclude on the many particle tracks and get a better insight of how particle physics 'works'.

Measurements performed with medipix hardware and software. Be amazed about the possibility to distinguish between different types of particles (alpha, electrons, muons) that are created by daily life objects and are generally present all around us as background radiation.
