Description

Low-energy experimental searches for physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) generally rely on hadronic or nuclear environments to search for rare processes and interactions. Precision hadronic measurements utilizing, for example, ultracold neutron sources, can point to new physics through discrepancies from theory, while detectors containing large quantities of certain nuclei can search for rare processes that are enhanced by special nuclear properties. In all cases, matching experimental signatures to theory requires a non-perturbative solution to QCD. In this talk, I will present recent calculations performed by the CalLat collaboration of the nucleon axial charge, gA, which provides constraints on right-handed BSM currents and leads the way toward a resolution of the neutron lifetime puzzle, and matrix elements relevant for neutrinoless double beta decay searches.
