Approval of minutes

The minutes of the LIU-PSB WG #224 meeting will be approved in the next meeting.

Communications

General

  • The LIU event will be held from the 13th to the 15th of February 2018. It will last two nights and will take place in Montreux.
  • S. Prodon will extract all the LIU EVM data on Thursday 8th of November 2018 for the written document that will be presented by F. Bordry to the Council, which will also contain an explanation of the EVM variances. Please make sure that your EVM reporting is up to date.

LIU-PT Meeting

  • J. Coupard presented the latest schedule for the Linac4 and Linac4-to-PSB connection.
  • The current Linac4 RR has been extended by one week, to include week 49.
  • The ISTs and Open Days have been explicitly included in the schedule.
  • A proposal has been made to stagger the HW commissioning phase so that the HW commissioning will be conducted first in the area up to 3 MeV and then in the rest of Linac4. In this way, the first beam tests up to 3 MeV can be run during this time.
  • B. Mikulec presented the detailed, day-by-day planning for the LBE run in 2019.
  • Out of the 11 weeks of beam commissioning, 3 weeks are needed for re-commissioning the Linac4, 0.5 weeks for the wrap-up, and 7.5 weeks correspond to previously non-testable/adjustable features.

LIU Beam Performance Meeting

  • The last meeting was dedicated to the review of the outcome of the source review and the SPS high-intensity machine studies.

Open Actions

I. Efthymiopoulos (2018-11-06): Make a list of starting points of the transfer lines to be sent for approval in an EDMS document.

  • The EDMS document is circulating. Action closed.

WPA and PSB master schedule (D. Hay)

  • D. Hay previously presented the concept of Work Package Analysis (WPA), in the LIU-PSB WG meeting #216.
  • The Individual System Tests (IST) period has been included in the schedule, before the hardware commissioning.
  • The planning can be accessed online through the link provided in the presentation (slide 5), but access to the license needs to be requested and can take up to three weeks.
  • The EN-EL de-cabling and cabling campaigns are the main schedule drivers since they will be working all over the machine and the co-activities with other groups need to be minimized. The campaigns have been scheduled with the requested contingency, with a total duration of 56 weeks (two more weeks than previously scheduled). This extension will make the activities last until 2020.
  • The general commissioning will start in 2020. The long cabling campaign will push later in time the vacuum tests, which are not fully confirmed yet.
  • As of today, the WPA for the injectors is almost complete and has proven useful.

Some details about the master schedule are presented below:

PSB machine opening and testing sequence

  • Machine cooldown (6 weeks).
  • Removal of RF equipment (42 days).
  • Tests with POPs-B (17 days in December 2018).
  • Kicker replacement (access of one day).
  • Full electrical lock-out before the Christmas holidays.

BE-RF projects (M. Haase)

  • The powering tests will be carried out towards the end of 2019.
  • Cooling will be needed for the tests starting from mid-November 2019.

TE-ABT projects (W. Weterings)

  • Ejection and injection: preparation, dismantling, and preparation for the insulation by TE-EPC
  • Magnets, vacuum, and consolidation works (cooling and ventilation).

Comments

  • G. P. Di Giovanni asked if the cables to be marked in purple are the ones to be kept or the ones to be disconnected. D. Hay answered that only the cables to be disconnected need to be marked.
  • B. Mikulec commented that the extra week given to EN-EL might be a problem in terms of manpower since the operators will have other projects, although support by phone could be possible.
  • B. Mikulec commented that there are some activities missing concerning the TE-ABT works during LS2, like the conditioning tests. This will be followed-up to make sure everything is there.
  • B. Mikulec asked D. Hay if he has blocked two weeks for the Open Days. D. Hay answered that two weeks are included in the master schedule.
  • M. G. Atanasov asked how to know when the planning changes. D. Hay answered that regular coordination meetings will be held to discuss any change in the planning.
  • G. P. Di Giovanni asked how delays will be coordinated centrally. D. Hay answered that this will be done during the weekly coordination meeting.
  • G. P. Di Giovanni asked if vacuum is the only group missing to confirm that the proposed schedule is fine. D. Hay answered that it is.
  • J. A. Ferreira Somoza will be contacted concerning the vacuum schedule.
