Description

Pauline Gagnon was born in Canada and was attracted by science from a very early age. She did her undergraduate studies at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) then went to San Francisco State University and completed a PhD in Particle Physics at University of California in Santa Cruz. She then moved to CERN where she stayed until she pre-retired in 2014.

Pauline has a large experience in outreach activities and communicating science to the general public. She has given more than 100 presentations and has written a book "Who cares about particle Physics?" that talks about particle physics in clear and simple terms.

Pauline will be interviewed by Kate Kahle, with whom she shared the same office for several years. Kate has more than fifteen years of experience as an editor, science communicator and project manager. She began as a physicist before receiving distinction for MSc Science Communication. She joined CERN in 2006 to communicate CERN-led European projects after 5 years of editorial experience in the Pearson Publishing group (Dorling Kindersley, Longman Science). Kate became CERN social media manager in 2012 and section leader in 2016.
