Description

I will describe how nearby Coulomb resonances can enhance dark matter annihilation when its kinetic energy is equal to any inter-state mass splittings.  If the corresponding resonant velocities match that of dark matter in our local neighbourhood the indirect-detection signal receives a significant boost.  I illustrate this phenomenon in the context of a pure higgsino thermal relic, which is surprisingly elusive to experiment, and show that certain ranges of higgsino splittings can be ruled out using existing measurements of diffuse photon spectra by HESS and Fermi-LAT.
