Programme committee meeting for the 2019 LC community meeting

→ Europe/Zurich
    • 16:00 → 16:15
      Information about the meeting 15m

      Further announcements
      Status of talks

      Speaker: Steinar Stapnes (CERN)
    • 16:15 → 16:45
      Towards a final programme 30m

Discussions in Lausanne, possible conclusions ,.. first go

      Suggestion:

Attempt to leave the meeting with a common ideas of what are the main areas for LC activities 2020-5, and ultimate goal.

Follow the structure of ESPP document - a few sentences followed by a clarifying paragraph per point.

Send an outline of such a document to the participant asking for community comments/suggestions (3 min/speaker Monday evening)

      Possible structure of document:

      Overall goals and LC features:
Implement a LC with good physics from initial stage to upgrades in a "continuous" mode
      -state physics capabilities
-links well to general accelerator development and LS/FELs
Can run in parallel with other machines (hadrons/muons etc)
Whatever option moves ahead, the projects are affordable and implementable in the period from now until 2035, and very flexible for future adaptations,

Status and immediate needs (our wish-list) - random order:
Points 1,2) We have ILC and CLIC, need to support development of both in the coming years for implementation in Japan/CERN. Detail what is needed

      3) Same for detector R&D and later TDRs (R&D can be done in collaboration with circular and hadron detector R&D).

      4) Increase link to NAT community for high end accelerator

      5) Continue work for luminosity performance for initial machine - can link and work with circular studies for initial stage physics

      6) Pursue - include also NAT community - high end physics potential

      7) Work actively with smaller machines for verifications and system development (e.g. FELs and LS)
