Journal club: the H0 tension

The ~4sigma tension between the CMB+BAO and the local Cepheid/SNIae determination of H0 appears to increase with additional scrutiny (1604.01424, 1903.07603).

Intrigued by this tension, we will discuss some gory (but essential) details in the observational campaigns to determine H0.
MS will discuss the geometric distance measurement and the calibration of Cepheid period-luminosity relation. KB will discuss the calibration of SNIae.

The goal of the discussion is to understand key ingredients in the local measurement of H0, and the main requirements needed in order to achieve a reliable uncertainty estimate of ~1%.
