Description

The Standard Model of Particle Physics has been proved to be a very successful theory. Nevertheless, it fails to explain several phenomena present in nature. Among these, it cannot accommodate the amount of matter-antimatter imbalance that is measured. In order to solver this, several theories have been proposed. The measurement of the CP violating phase $\phi_s$ in decays of beauty hadrons represents a fundamental test of such theories, as well as an indirect place where to probe New Physics scales otherwise not accessible to the current experimental reach. The phase $\phi_s$ arises in the interference between the amplitudes of the $B_s^0$ mesons decaying directly and after oscillation.

This seminar will cover the latest $\phi_s$ and $\Delta\Gamma_s$ measurements using $B_s^0\rightarrow J/\psi\phi$ and $B_s^0\rightarrow J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-$ decays from proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb and ATLAS detectors.
