Description

China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) completed its phase-one construction in March 2018 and entered the operation stage. Currently it provides a proton beam on target of 1.6 GeV, 25 Hz and 50 kW (design 100 kW). As a multidisciplinary research facility, its main scientific fields are with neutron scattering techniques. An associated white neutron beam line exploiting the back-streaming neutrons (Back-n) was built for nuclear data measurement. The Back-n white neutron source entered the operation in March 2018 at the same time as CNSN. It provides a neutron beam of high flux (107 n/cm2/s at 50 m from the target) and wide energy range (0.5 eV to 200 MeV). The Beam characterization and the day-one experiments have been done and the first preliminary results will be presented.
