Summary of Experiment Activities (as input to Operations meeting)
      document
    • 2
Experiment resource requirements (and work plans) at all Tier-1 sites (cpu, disk, tape, network in and out, type of work) covering at least 2007Q1 and 2007Q2.
      • Input received from LHCb, ATLAS and ALICE.
      • Still pending for CMS

N.B. placeholder - input from CMS expected on timescale of next meeting.

File Transfer Tests & multi-VO support
Benefiting from the GDB and pre-GDB this week, we will initiate discussions with some target sites on understanding multi-VO issues.

Target sites include: Lyon (initially), followed by FZK, CNAF and others. An initial discussion will be held tomorrow.

300MB/s transfer tests to BNL also need to be scheduled in the coming weeks, understanding the fraction that should be written to tape (40%?)

From Bruce Gibbard: It is believed that both hardware (dCache write node configurations) and software (to dCache 1.7.0) upgrades currently in the works will have to be completed before such a test can be done with a reasonable chance of success. The completion of these upgrades is currently scheduled for the first of the year. Therefore I don't think such a test would be possible until sometime in January at the earliest.

Production 3D Services as part of WLCG
      Schedule for production services for
      • LFC (LHCb) - update on the intervention last week
        • Intervention itself went smoothly, although there was quite a lot of last minute work required...
      • COOL (ATLAS, LHCb) - "heads-up" on schedule for deploying production services and sites involved
      and associated requirements

      Relevant ATLAS Milestones

Milestones for the 4th Quarter: 15.12.2006

Testing is extended to all six ATLAS Tier 1 3D Phase I sites with both dedicated test data and access to some real data with Athena test jobs.

Comments: Currently ATLAS started testing of half of all 3D Phase I sites, with one site passing all the tests.

Milestones for the 1st Quarter: 31.01.2007 Use of data replicated via 3D services by ATLAS production jobs.

Comments: Needed in preparation for ATLAS Calibration Data Challenge

See ATLAS plans for T1 resource committments (BNL 24%, IN2P3 13.5%, NIKHEF 13%, FZK 10.5% etc.)
