Minutes of 09-Sep-2019 CIMA Mtg
Andrej Studen Report:
Andrej arrived at OSU on Sunday 15-Sep-2019. As expected the Si-North system
was not working. Switching low voltage power supplies off and on did not fix things reproducing what was done previously. A system was set up to measure the low voltage (labelled +2V but nominally set to +1.5V fofr VATAGP7) and the AC component on that voltage (Agilent U1253A). The low voltage was reading 1.48V but the AC component was reading 0.25V which was very suprising. The PS was removed and the cables to the hybrid board were removed. No issues were observed in a visual scan of those components. Upon reconnecting the PS the +2V was now 1.66V and the AC component was gone (<0.002V). All cables were reconnected and a quick run revealed everything was now working properly. The +2V was adjusted from 1.66V to 1.60V to match the voltage on Si South.
A few long Si-Si runs were taken including a run with a Na22 double source
and Na22 single source ina 3D pattern. The reconstruction results of these
runs are posted on the 19-Sep-2019 Indico page. Both single and double
sources are clearly visible and the slice with double source has a clear
separation between sources. (The max counts for the double source is z-slice 8
(1600 counts in 512*4=2096s) and the max counts for the single source is z-slice 19). The z-slices are roughly 80 steps or 1/2 mm apart.
In the discussion, Neal mentioned he would try to get to OSU on Mon 23-Sep.
A suggestion was made to take a data run with the minimum z-step to measure
the z-resolution.
Gabriela mentioned that a new version of MADDAQ was designed and being tested
which had a higher readout speed. She is looking for 256 pad detectors since
the ones she was using are no longer functioning. We agreed to look for
the 256 pad detectors in Ljubljana and OSU.
