Numerical lattice QCD calculations are necessarily restricted to a finite Euclidean spacetime. As a result, it is very challenging to extract multi-hadron scattering and decay amplitudes, most naturally defined in the infinite-volume Minkowski theory. In this talk I will review recent progress in using finite-volume effects as a tool to extract three-hadron scattering and discuss prospects (and present limitations) for heavy flavour decays and exotic resonances.
