Idea Circle Dinner Discussion #12:

Accelerating News: a bridge between science and institutional communications

Abstract:

Accelerating News is not your usual science communication publication. A newsletter produced and curated by the CERN EU Projects Office, it is published through a website, it focuses mainly on the impact of the science it features, and it has a less-than-general audience, such as projects’ communities, engineers, physicists, PhD students, and industrial collaborators. So what is Accelerating News? What is its purpose? What sort of stories does it publish? And, more importantly, how can you participate?

ICCD#12 will answer these questions and more, as it takes us through the 101 of communication strategy and takes a look at Accelerating News as a project with specific goals, audiences, channels and evaluation methods. Join us and let us know about your expectations for Accelerating News.

About the speaker:

Daniela Antonio:
Daniela believes true innovation is dependent on its outreach. For this reason, she pursued a career as a science communicator, hoping to make science accessible to everyone. With an undergraduate degree in Cell and Molecular Biology and a Masters degree in Science Communication, Daniela has previously worked as a communications consultant, media analyst, translator and science communicator. At CERN, Daniela is the Communication Officer for the EU Projects Office, having started as an editor of Accelerating News and On Track in July 2018, and editor-in-chief of Accelerating News in July 2019.
