Description

In this presentation, we show measurements of the second Fourier coefficient of the azimuthal distribution (elliptic flow, v2) of prompt D0 and D0bar mesons using the four-particle cumulants technique at midrapidity (|y| < 1). These measurements are performed using data from PbPb collisions at 5.02 TeV collected by the CMS detector at the LHC in 2018. The v2 of prompt D0 and D0bar mesons are studied in differential transverse momentum (pT) and event centrality (a measure of the overlap of the two Pb nuclei) bins. Compared to inclusive charged particles, the v2 ratio of measurements using four-particle cumulants and two-particle method, v2{4}/v2{2}, is studied to investigate the contribution of soft and hard physics fluctuations. The results illustrate, for the first time, an indication of charm quark v2 fluctuation from energy loss.
