        Discussion on Common Projects 30m

Establish a link between the Scientific Computing and the Scientific Software groups:

        • Short-term goal (3-6 months): demonstrate benefits of RNTuple in a shared environment (many clients to XRootD or EOS)

        • Longer-term common projects

          • Storage API evolution (e.g., key-value store)
          • Information exchange between storage and application layer (e.g. caching hints, TTreeStats/RNTupleMetrics, block size hints)
        • Storage hardware evolution at scale
        • Impact of erasure coding
        • Common benchmarks and visualization of access data
