Description

The first evidence of the production of three massive vector bosons ("triboson") at the LHC is presented, using proton collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at 13 TeV. Triboson production is a rare electroweak process, with sensitivity to physics beyond the Standard Model, which has eluded precise measurement for many years. The theoretical motivation, analysis strategy, results, and future prospects are discussed in detail. In addition, near-term upgrades of the ATLAS experiment are presented, with special emphasis on the New Small Wheel muon detector.
