Dual Readout Meeting
Minutes for the IDEA Calorimetry Meeting (14/02/2020) - SW session
We had three presentations:
1) Iacopo presented the ongoing development of the IDEA Calorimetry SW Twiki Page. Instructions on how to compile and execute the IDEA DR Simulation are available and successfully tested. Lorenzo and Iacopo invited the community to try it and report any problem. A more detailed Twiki page will be presented in next meetings.
2) Lorenzo showed results from the IDEA Simulation for 100 GeV pions using several physics lists. The goal is to compare results and understand differences between different implementations of the simulation. The simulation of the new prototype is now under development. We will include the possibility to smear the geometry according to parametrized tolerances in tubes diameter. First results will be presented by the Pavia group as soon as possible.
3) Edoardo and Massimiliano reported detailed studies on electron/pions separation using the IDEA simulation. Results on three discriminating variables were combined in a multi-variate analysis obtaining excellent results. Comparing this technique with different multi-variate analysis from the RD52 Collaboration suggests good room for improvement for the IDEA studies.
Korean colleagues started investigating the IDEA code and will present results.
As the collaboration is increasing we will collect data in a common storage and code in a github project. We invite the Como group, at the end of the particle identification studies, to release a first version of the code and data used. We will collect them and made them public. To any group will be asked to provide the same for accepted results.
Next meeting is scheduled for 28/2/2020.
Best Regards, Lorenzo Pezzotti and Iacopo Vivarelli
