Description
It was recently observed that loop operator expectation values in certain N=2 SUSY gauge theories are equal to expectation values of geodesic length operators in quantum Liouville-Teichmuller theory. We will explain how quantum Liouville-Teichmueller theory can be understood as the result of a quantization of the Hitchin moduli spaces, which represent the mathematical structures behind the Seiberg-Witten theory of the gauge theories in question. This may become a part of a possible future explanation of the relation between these gauge theories and Liouville theory discovered by Alday, Gaiotto and Tachikawa.
