Weekly meeting slot for technical topics. We will try and focus on one topic per meeting.  We will announce at the Tuesday Ops meeting if this meeting is going ahead and if so the topic to be discussed.

RAL status

The Rucio server has been out of operation since Tuesday 11th August after new packages were install on it. The system didn’t reboot (it got a kernel panic), and despite the intervention of the Cloud team, it wasn’t possible to get the VM running again. Ian Johnson spent some time building a new VM from an instance snapshot of the server from last month. 

We didn’t lose any data from the database, although Ian has trimmed the historical information so that we can only see back to the 1st June.  This was to enable the multi-VO scripts to work faster.

 

Plan:

1. Ian expects to have the instance working at the start of next week (17th August).  

2. We will wait for the instance to be up 24 hours before Patrick runs his script to enable the multi-VO functionality.  

3. We will create either dteam or GridPP VO to enable testing to start.

 

We need to create:

• dteam

• GridPP, this is for DIRAC’s usage.

 

Discussion

Rohini asked if there were any plans to integrate with IRIS IAM.  Patrick says that all the OIDC stuff is available since July but he has not tried implementing yet.  ESCAPE Rucio instance does have IAM integration.

Rohini asked if the space usage is accounted for by IRIS.  Space accounting is not yet available for IRIS.  Patrick will check if the Abacus daemon has been enabled which will allow space reporting via Rucio.

 

Action:

• Alastair to contact Janusz and Andrea to ensure initial testing of multi-VO features are coordinated.

• Katy to join GridPP VO.

• Alastair will arrange a meeting in the first half of September on Rucio / DIRAC integration.
