AGM 2019

Europe/Zurich

#Participants on zoom: 18
#Proxies: 10
Quorum: 17

The meeting began at 12:00, Rachel  (R)was elected President du Seance and Marzena volunteered to be the 2020 account auditor.

R began by extending her thanks to all for attending the AGM, to the Committee for their hard work and to the instructors who had maintained online classes during the crisis, as well as for their classes during normal times.

The first matter on the agenda concerned COVID19 and the resumption of Club activities. R explained that for the moment all club activities are suspended (apart from online activities). There is no news as to when club activities can resume on the CERN site, whilst the CCC and the Staff Association are requesting management enables those clubs whose activities take place off site may resume activities so long as they respect the member state guidelines. Clubs will likely resume on site, once everyone is fully back to work and things are back to 'normal'

We should consider:

  • using software/app for subscriptions and class size management in case we apply physical distancing
  • extra cleaning
  • clear guidelines
  • continuation of online classes

Gianluca mentioned the risks linked to deep/heavy breathing and contracting COVID and said it would be good to continue the online classes for those who are not keen on returning to classes.
Cris asked how subscriptions would be managed for those following online classes? R said that there could be 2 different subscription plans. NB for the moment, all classes are free to all, members or not, as of the resumption, one would have to be a member to have access to the zoom link.
Federico asked if he could go to the room to give the classes (it's difficult in his flat) and virtual boxing classes aren't as good as the real thing. For the moment, only people on the white list can access the site and all clubs are currently closed. Providing access to one club would prompt other clubs to request exceptions. R will check possibilities.

R presented the president's report, overall increase in # subscriptions, increased # HIIT classes with Loris. Gianluca requested the comparison with previous years. Cris mentioned that his class was very overcrowded towards end 2019 and would welcome better management of class numbers (app). C also asked if we could link access to the room and the app i.e. access only if you are taking place in a class. Might require some programming on the CERN side, so difficult.
Federico explained that they have different levels for boxing classes (Mon, Wed, Fri), slight reduction in # subscribers.
Misha was pleased that the stage was removed to give more space for powerlifters, but received complaints as one piece of equipment was temporarily removed to make way for the equipment cupboard. Has concerns that some things might have gone missing during the lockdown. R reminded him that we have the camera and access records for an investigation, should this be the case.

Anita presented the annual accounts, Gianluca requested the comparison with previous years. Anita suggests we get rid of the EURO account as it costs quite a lot to maintain it.

R reminded members that we sponsor a young orphan from Laos (nearly 700 USD/year) .
R mentioned that the committee members are standing for reelection and asked if anyone else was keen on becoming a member. No volunteers. The current committee members we reelected.

R asked if there were any further questions/suggestions/ideas. The meeting rose at 13:05

thanks to all, stay safe and well!
