We discussed the SIDARTHE model and reviewed the C++ implementation for the South African case as a example. The model has 16 parameters and 8 compartments for the COVID-19 evolution. We encouraged everyone to familiarize themselves with the model and the parameters, and importantly the parameter ordering. We discussed the importance of selecting initial parameters so as to reproduce the trends in 3 datasets (active, recovered and dead). The parameters should change at the boundaries consistent with specific actions taken by the people or government such as at the time of lockdown or various social distance measures. In some cases, you may let the data guide you in setting these boundaries. Once good sets of initial parameters are found, one may complete the study by doing fits, if necessary.

Actions:

1. Kétévi will make his C++ code available. The people that are using Python should look at it and do similar implementation in Python. They should then test their Python code and show that they reproduce Kétévi’s results for South Africa. Only after that, they should start making changes.

2. For each country considered, we would to analyze 6 months of data up to mid-September

3. Every 2 weeks, everyone should send an update of the data of their country. So we expect the next updates fo the data on August 18, August 31 and September 15.

4. Publication
We will target the calls for publications by the Mozambican government (deadline September 15) or by Scientific African (September 30).

5. In case of questions, please contact Kétévi; if necessary, Kétévi is available to Skype with you.
