Description
We describe recent work which derives an effective potential for string compactification in the supergravity limit, taking into account the warp and conformal factors. Because of the conformal factor, it is not manifest that the potential is bounded below, just as in Euclidean quantum gravity. We show how the warp factor fixes this problem and makes the potential bounded below.
