Large Hadron Collider Machine Learning Hackathon Competition will take place on UA campus from October 7-9, 2019. The competition is open to anyone and will focus on applying machine learning techniques to analyze data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s highest energy particle accelerator located in Geneva, Switzerland. The Large Hadron Collider was used to discover the Higgs Boson and is currently searching for hints of new physics. Please find the competition poster attached.

The kickoff session will take place on MondayOctober 7 at 4:30pm in Gallalee Hall 227. Participants can work in small teams and compete for prizes. There will be office hours on October 8 and 9 where experts will be available to answer any questions. Anyone interested in learning more about machine learning techniques and trying their hand at the competition is welcome to participate. No prior machine learning experience is necessary.
