Description

The progress in extraction of nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) is currently driven by the LHC proton–lead program. The most stringent new constraints come at the moment from the measurements of dijet, open-heavy-flavour-meson and electroweak-boson production. In this talk, I give a short overview of the status of the use of these new constraints in the nPDF analyses. I will also discuss the role of the uncertainties from free-proton PDFs and the challenges they pose for utilizing the proton–lead data in the nPDF fits. I will then discuss some future prospects at the LHC and at the planned COMPASS++/AMBER facility.
