This is a reminder about the upcoming HSF/WLCG workshop that will be run as a virtual workshop from November 19 to November 24. The agenda has been finalized and this time, HSF and WLCG sessions will be run in parallel to allow more time for in-depth topical discussions. On the HSF side, we’ll have, in particular, 2 topical days on event generators (Friday) and detector simulation (Monday). Look at Indico for the details: https://indico.cern.ch/event/941278/. Connection details will be published the day before the event.

Registration to the event is requested and will ensure you are informed about the last minute adjustments. Please do so if it is not already the case.

As it was done for the last workshop, we have asked presenters to upload their presentation at least one day in advance and you are encouraged to look at them beforehand and to fill your questions in the live notes Google Doc that will be linked from Indico.

We are looking to seeing you… virtually! Cheers,

        Michel, for the organizing team
        vCHEP workshop bulletin

        Dear colleagues,

The International Computing in High Energy and Nuclear Physics (CHEP) conference originally planned for May 2021 in Norfolk (Virginia, US) has been postponed to 2022 due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, which makes it impossible to organise an in-person event at the scale of CHEP next year.

In agreement with the CHEP International Advisory Committee, CERN will organise an online conference on the same dates. This is therefore an announcement that the 25th International Conference on Computing in High Energy and Nuclear Physics (vCHEP2021) will take place as an online event from 17-21 May 2021.

The scientific programme for CHEP 2021 will address the computing, networking, storage and software needs of the world’s leading high energy and nuclear physics experiments that analyse hundreds of petabytes of data using worldwide computing resources.

We plan to focus on a strong high energy and nuclear physics (HENP) programme based on the highest quality material submitted to the conference. For this reason, we ask contributors to prepare an extended submission (as a paper from 6 to 10 pages) that will then be the basis for conference proceedings if accepted. The vCHEP2021 presentation structure will differ substantially from a standard CHEP conference. The most interesting and relevant contributions that focus on innovation in meeting the HENP computing challenges in the coming years will be presented as longer talks in general (plenary) sessions. Other accepted papers will be allocated a short talk organised by theme. The paper submission will open on 1 December 2020 and close on 28 February 2021. Please note there will be no extension to the paper submission deadline. Paper submission will happen through the conference Indico website:

        http://cern.ch/vchep2021

All contributions accepted at the conference will be published in the form of proceedings (these will be published after the conference, when final revisions of the initially submitted papers have been done). We also plan to select a number of contributions of the highest quality and submit them to a peer-reviewed journal.

Please forward this announcement to anyone who may be interested.

        Important dates

Paper submission opens: 1 December 2020
        Registration opens: 1 February 2021
Paper submission closes: 28 February 2021
Paper acceptance notifications: 15 April 2021
        Conference: 17-21 May 2021
Final paper revision for publication: 25 June 2021
