Location

The March GDB will take place at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology Campus North, Steinbuch Centre for Computing, Building 449, Room 140 approximately 12km north of Karlsruhe city center.

All guests of KIT have to enter through the south gate of KIT Campus North. Please present a valid goverment-issue photo-ID (passport, identity card) at the information desk "ANMELDUNG" to get a short-term visitor ID. If you are correctly registered in Indico, your name, date of birth and place of birth will be on a list of participants and you'll quickly receive your visitor pass. If there is any problem, please let the information desk contact the organizers Andreas Heiss or Andreas Petzold.

Travel to Karlsruhe

By Plane

There are three nearby airports: Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe/Baden Airpark. Travel information including connections to Karlsruhe.

By Train

There are good train connections from Geneva (4:30) every hour. There are also a few TGV connections from France every day. Please consult your local railway operator for infromation.

or follow these directions. Once you have picked up your visitor pass, you can drive through the gate. Limited parking is available around building 449.

By Public Transport

The easiest way to get to KIT Campus North is from Karlsruhe main station via train/tram and bus. The tram goes through the city center, so if you don't stay near the main station you can take the tram but it takes a lot longer.

• From Karlsruhe main station (Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof), take the local train (Regionalbahn RB) direction Mannheim or Biblis. At Blankenloch Bahnhof change to bus 195 direction Leopoldshafen. Get off the bus at KIT Campus Nord Südtor. Once per hour, duration ~20min, fare €3,10
• In front of Karlsruhe main station is a tram terminal (Karlsruhe Bahnhofsvorplatz). From there take tram S4/S41 (the S is important) direction Tullastraße. At Karlsruhe Markplatz (central place with a small pyramid) change to tram S2 direction Spöck. At Leopoldshafen Leopoldstraße change to bus 195 direction Blankenloch. Get off the bus at KIT Campus Nord Südtor. Once per hour, duration ~45min, fare €3,10
• In front of Karlsruhe main station is a tram terminal (Karlsruhe Bahnhofsvorplatz). From there take tram S1 direction Hochstetten. At Leopoldshafen Leopoldstraße change to bus 195 direction Blankenloch. Get off the bus at KIT Campus Nord Südtor. Once per hour, duration ~45min, fare €3,10
