          NA61/SHINE continues hibernation of the experiment. That includes:

          • Cleaning of barracks
          • Securing our equipment, putting protection against dust
          • Labeling the equipment
          • Performing tests of detector subsystems

           

          One of the tests is checking for a presence of leaks in our helium containers localized in between our detectors. Unfortunately, we found many of them and will need to plan for their repairs.

          One of the last places we need to check for the leak is the insides of our magnets. For that we need an ODH detector, but we have problems with getting back our detector. After its visit to the workshop in building 104 for recalibration in late July, it completely stopped working. It was brought back there over three weeks ago (wrapped in paper with notes describing the problems). We cannot get any information of its status since then. We need to rent one for one day before Thursday.

          P371 experiment's run is on-going in the PS-T11 zone until 31 August. Lifting of the P371 equipment is scheduled for that day, followed by removal of the temporary scaffolding platform and re-installation of CLOUD main platform's handrails and hodoscopes. P371 team (Dieter Grzonka, Vincent Verhoeven) makes the handling requests for their equipment. The scaffolding and handrail installations are coordinated by the TSO (Mark Bisset). For the hodoscopes the contact is CLOUD EXSO (Antti Onnela).

          Installation and commissioning of CLOUD equipment will proceed in September for the CLOUD19 physics run (with cosmics) due in 19 Oct - 30 Nov. Initial Safety Declaration of the CLOUD19 run instruments, gases and chemicals is available in https://edms.cern.ch/document/3479627.
