    AD LS3 planning

    Francois Presented the planning for services disruptions and the next major activities, concerning sector 3 magnets extraction (detailed in Joris’ talk). The following questions emerged:

    •           Discuss with Alejandro the possibility of possibly / if needed, installing electrical heating or a pulsed air system in the AD Hall during the HVAC refurbishment (in particular early March) to keep temperatures at an acceptable level.

    •           Discuss with Alejandro the smoke extraction/ventilation restrictions and compensatory measures during the HVAC refurbishment., and possible limitations on activities in AD hall

    •           Confirm the date for the annual power cut in January.

    •           Arrange a diagnostic for the ALPHA hut to check for asbestos and determine if it should be replaced.

    •           Organize a meeting with Samuel, Richard, and Christophe to coordinate the cabling campaign and the removal of power converters in building 193 rack room

    Magnets extraction for refurbishment in sector 3

    Joris showed the planned activities for the extraction of 5 magnets in sector 3 for refurbishment. In particular, for the safety of the operations,  Joris will:

    • Coordinate the removal of the ALPHA hut for the shielding opening and then extraction of magnets in Sector 3 starting Tuesday next week.
    • Arrange for the installation of temporary guardrails after the Alpha hut is removed and before opening the shielding blocks.
    • Arrange for the re-installation of yellow guardrails after the magnets are extracted and shielding is closed.
    • The ALPHA hut will only be put back in place after final re-installation of magnets.
    • The visits will be suspended 3rd -13th Nov

    HVAC /cooling tower systems refurbishment

    Francois presented, on behalf of Aljandro, updates on the HVAC system refurbishment, highlighting ongoing work on the asbestos removal in the cooling tower, with Alejandro scheduled to provide more details at the next meeting on November 12th.

    Davide discussed part of the talk he will deliver at JAPW next week, highlighting the performance improvements of the AD and ELENA machines, noting that current operations deliver a factor of two more antiprotons than designed specifications. When questioned about further improvement in the same direction, it was noted that there are no immediate plans to increase intensity further due to user preferences for stability.

    Richard raised concerns about the timing of power converter removal and cabling work in building 193 rack room, leading to a discussion with Christophe about coordinating these activities to avoid conflicts, with plans for further discussion involving Samuel and Richar (Francois to organize a meeting on this topic). Michael will end the detailed planning and a list of impacted loads for the electrical distribution work in building 193.

    Gunn indicated that the tests with new e gun for the new e-cooler are going well. It was indicated after the meeting that nominal beam conditions have been reached and kept.for 30 mn. Congratulations to all the team involved !
