Status and plans
Heuristic reconstruction
- First challenge: “reconstructing a tau” doesn’t necessarily mean the same for everyone. Not everyone uses the same information.
- Likely we will have more than one implementation in parallel. Probably OK, but let’s try to not reinvent the wheel
- We require a broad range of expertise
- One of our main tasks for the Reference Design Phase must be to provide feedback for detector concepts
- Let’s try to define with the physics WG a small set of reference analyses that exercise the reconstruction capabilities
- Sofia et al. implemented tau reco with tracks + photons for Higgs --> tau tau in FCCAnalyses
- Can work as a base for extending to more decay modes
- Maria and Olmo will look into integrating their PandoraPFA-based
- Can bring an update in ~ 1 month
- [Thomas] We better aim for Algorithms in Gaudi instead putting everything on FCCAnalyses
- Can we get examples on how to make this integration?
- Presented in the CERN/BNL school last week, looking for the link
ML based
- Very active, couple of thesis from KIT, 4 papers
- Strong interest in contributing to various studies
- Foundation model for tau lepton reconstruction
- Collects 4-momentum, charge identification
- Being implemented as a Gaudi algorithm
- Will be presented by Norman in an upcoming meeting
- We expect more dedicated talks
Round table
- [Adrian Irles, Melissa Almanza] Starting to work with Maria and Olmo in ILD reconstruction, trying to use tau channels as a benchmark
- [Karl Ehataht] Working with Laurits in ML, reconstructing visible constituents
- [Mohadeseh] Connecting since interested in the topic
- [Atilio and Federico] Development of the silicon detector as tracker. Bringing experience from LEP and ATLAS
- [Maria, Olmo] Looking into Higgs --> tau tau, focusing on the tau reconstruction. With Alilio, investigating degradation of performance. With Olmo, looking into the polarization. Focusing on CLD with Full Simulation. As an institute ILD is the focus (with Valencia)
- [Thomas] Interested in tau to see how fast simulation affects the ML tau reconstruction (it is a complicated enough object)
- [Pedro] Collaborating with Francisca (Chile), talking with Laurits on ML reconstruction, rare tau decays (strange vs non-strange), displaced vertexes
- [Michel] Belle II as background, involved in tau mass measurement, SM properties. For FCC, focus on documentation and training
