FCC CERN-Cornell SRF collaboration meeting #1

Participants: M. Lieppe, F. Gerigk, F. Peauger, V. Parma, W. Venturini Delsolaro, I. Karpov

- There are regular Nb3Sn meetings between JLAB, FNAL, Cornell, could be extended to include CERN, ??

- DOE funding probably not available before 1-2 years,

- right now Cornell expects to get extension of Nb3Sn grant (DOE GARD), should allow samples, cavity coatings etc,

- at which temperature should Nb3Sn operate? 4.5 K or even higher ?

- thermal defect modelling (Ryan porter), at which defect size does the substrate matter?

- accelerator physics at Cornell is fully funded by DOE,

- student visit to CERN in October for ~4 weeks,

- consider sending a CERN student to Cornell, 

- CERN can build 2 more 800 MHz single cells for Cornell to coat

- Cornell will have an oven for 800 C

- They will have to shield the NbTi flanges in the oven (as FNAL does), to avoid pollution of the oven,

- Maybe a Nb3Sn workshop at Cornell in fall/winter,
