Applying for fellowships can be an important path to success in an academic career. For early-career scientists, it can be a daunting task, and practical advice can be hard to find.
This half-day course will seek to remedy the situation by giving practical advice for early-career scientists from across Physics and Astronomy.
The event will consist of talks from academics who have been part of advanced fellowship selection panels, and advice from successful past applicants based on their experience. There will be plenty of time for questions and dedicated Q&A sessions
Finally, attendees will have a chance to put into practice what they’ve learned thanks to a practical session run by the UCL Research Coordination Office. Attendees should bring a one-page draft application to the event which they will be able to hone. It should consist of a vision statement (max 3 sentences), a research aim (1 sentence) and half a page of explanation of their research plan, written for an expert reviewer. More detailed instruction on what to prepare will be sent to attendees two weeks before the event.
The event can only cater for 30 early-career scientists from Physics and Astronomy, so book your place early: http://bit.ly/FellowshipsWorkshop
