CMS DT Meeting 28/01/21
Present: Beatrice, Andrea, LouisPhilippe, Mara, Daniel, Ignacio, Daniele, Domenico, Archie, Lisa

Analysis rack
- Analysis rack will have new H2O sensors (VAISALA) and O2 sensor (new generation but same working principle), new valves, etc.
- LPh wants to keep the same space for each analysis module (in total five) in order to have more space to put the hands: OK
- 3D drawing: to start around April 2021 —> LPh with new tech student
- Addition of GC at the bottom of the rack:
- LPh and Andrea said it will be impossible
- Ignacio and Daniel to check for the space for the GC on the bottom of the rack in between the analysis rack and VDC —> to tell to Gas team before the starting of the 3D drawings
- Material need for the GC:
- rack mounted GC in “empty rack”
- multi-way valve to be connected to the 5 channels of the analysis rack: to study if can stays in the analysis rack —> LPh+tech student
- rotameter and bronkhost pressure regulator atr the input of the GC
- pressure reducer for the carrier gas (pressure has to be 5.5 bar)
- carrier gases: He and Ar. Andrea confirmed that they are available in USC5. To foresee the installation of new lines (by gas team)
- all material already present and in use by DT team (not sure about the bronkhost)
- Mimmo suggested to have a NUC PC: ok since it is very small. What about ethernet socket?
- LPh confirmed that 2-3 days will be need for the installation of the new analysis rack. No need to stop the gas system but obviously we will run without analysis for these days
- Beatrice said that no FSU resources available before October 2021.
- —>Update in May 2021
Gas System
MFC
- Calibration of LF MFCs at CERN —> need to go in open mode for at least 2 days
- Check of calibration of HF MFCs with GC, we will do when in open mode
- To be done in week 8 or 10 —> Andrea to verify with Kacper when possible (and Mara has to be at CERN for GC analysis)
FLOWCELLS
- In the years there was a drop of 20% in the flow
- Gas team recalibrated some flowcells: reading is the same, so it looks like it is not a problem of flowcells
- https://eloggas.web.cern.ch/GASSYSOperationMaintenance/2549
- https://eloggas.web.cern.ch/GASSYSOperationMaintenance/2546
- Gas team checked all pressure sensors in July 2021, some differences of ~1 mbar but we didn’t calculate if it can explain the flow difference
- Andrea said there could be a shift in the spring of the pressure regulator Zimmerli
- Gas Team will prepare a summary and will come back to DT team in around 1 month
EXHAUST MODULE
- problem of buffer pressure decreasing when the system stops —> gas team to investigate
- need to stop the system several times: at least a couple of days of test
STANDARD MAINTENANCE
- Profibus cable has to be change --> need to stop the system for ~half a day
- standard maintenance: ~1 week with possibility to stop the system
—> Interventions of exhaust module and standard maintenance to be scheduled for weeks 10-14 —> Andrea/Mara/Beatrice
INCREASE OF FLOW FOR LS3-RUN4
- Ignacio explained that for Run 4 DT would like to increase flow from 50 l/h to 100 l/h in about 10% of the channels in the system
- Beatrice proposed to do a try by increasing the flow through the flowcells. This can be scheduled in weeks 10-14 between Gas Team (Andrea/Mara/Beatrice) and DT team (Daniel?). DT team has to provide channels in which we have to increase flow
