The workshop is an opportunity to learn:
- About GetDP, Gmsh, ONELAB and post-processing options
- How to develop simple models and to see examples of advanced models
- About challenges for FE code and some methods to improve outcomes
- How the future development of GetDP is going to shape
Specific examples and approaches will be covered:
- Superconductivity (critical state model and various formulations)
- Magnet design and optimisation, with ferromagnetic elements
- Quench and thermal transient problems
- How to couple various physics models
Key features of GetDP:
- Free and Open-Source FEM solver capable of 1D, 2D and 3D simulations
- Single or Multiphysics with various couplings
- Flexibility to define application specific physics
- Modern scripting langue allowing repeatable analysis
- Graphical user interface provided via Gmsh, through ONELAB interface
Participants experience and preparation:
- Basic knowledge of Finite Element Methods, and concepts of meshing, solving and post-processing
- Basic knowledge of superconductivity and electromagnet design
- (Optional) ONELAB bundle downloaded (https://onelab.info/). In the bundle, the model: models/Superconductors/helix.pro will be introduced during the workshop
